3 PERFORMANCES BY ALEXANDRE LYRA LEITE
The series of short performances COMFORT ZONE are opposedly to its title, a space of transgression and unrest where the word” sofa “will definitely be replaced by the word “chair”.
THE BAKING POWDER GIRL, COMFORT ZONE and WALKING GIRL is a proposal under the “Performance Art” artistic genre that is distinguished by the fusion of different languages, where the body appears as a primary means of support and expression.
The three events have in common the creation of a territory outside the limits of the “comfort zone” of the performers themselves, which explores the direct relationship with viewers through a language synthesis, primarily visual, without recourse to a narrative structure pre -set.
We are all comfortable, aren’t we?

“Inestética is a group that transcends the meaning of the word theater, goes further. It is an avant-garde company that puts on the scene multidisciplinary performances that prevent the indifference, that cultivates critical thinking and above all, that show a disturbing creativity.(…)”
Performance Art is an artistic genre born in the 60’s, has an exploratory result from the fusion of theater, cinema, dance, poetry, music and plastic arts. It is also linked to other forms of expressions, such as the Happening and Body Art, who privilege an direct interaction with the audience.
Its origins are connected to vanguard movements from early 20th century, namely Futurism and Dada, as well as the Bauhaus School influence.
As a common denominator, it introduces the use of the body as an support and expression medium in ephemeral events for an audience that is, sometimes, involved in the process.
Later on, there would be a strong contamination between Minimal art, Conceptual Art and Performance Art, artistic practices that assume the domain of idea and creative process over the art form final outcome.
